Straight from the closet... here is probably the most amazing example of craftsmanship and materials ever to come out of Fender Japan's Custom Shop. This guitar features a gorgeous birds-eye maple nitrocellulose finish neck, a bookmatched old stock light ash body with arguably the nicest wood grain I've ever seen, lacquer finish. This '57 reissue also has the older, more toneful Fender USA vintage pickups, vintage cloth wiring and comes with an era-correct Fender '57 reissue G&G Custom Shop hardshell case and full documentation plus magazines. This guitar is in mint condition, and it's sweet sixteen this year. I take it out every once-in-a-while and appreciate what an extraordinary instrument it is. You simply, sadly, cannot buy guitars with this kind of 3-D grain any longer. It marks a very special time in the history of Fender Japan guitars.
