Vintage 1963 Fender Stratocaster & Original Hard Case NOT FOR SALE
|

The photos say it all. Original '63 in that great psychedelic 3-tone sunburst. Pre-CBS strat all the way. Unmolested,
appraised at about $22k right now. Mods: Nut professionally changed in the 1980s, 5-way switch added around the same
time, plus a 2nd string tree. Tuners were upgraded but I have the originals and the ferrules as well. Also bought a correct
3-way switch for the guitar that I didn't install. No solder joints except for the switch have been touched and all the parts
are correct and original, down to the screws. Original finish has a lot of scratches due to a poor cleaning job long ago,
which I was told could be buffed out to a shine again without hurting the nitro or devaluing the guitar. I was going to have
this work done to get it back to a more original state, but I decided not to, as this guitar has a vibe and tone all of its own.
I was expecting a more mellow, weak tone, but ended up being growled at - these pickups are by far the hottest and
most balanced I've ever heard. Many pros in the business who have seen & heard this guitar rank it as one of the best
pre-CBS strats they've ever heard. The fit and finish is second to none, and the pattern on that gorgeous Brazilian
rosewood fretboard cannot be purchased today. Amazingly, the frets have almost no wear and are original. The neck is
straight as an arrow with lots of truss adjustment room and sport those cool clay dot inlays. If you can't tell yet, I am very
proud to own and play this guitar. It's all that a superb pre-CBS strat should be and more.
